Solar Heating

Make heat from the sun

Go small or big. Residential or Commercial. Water Heating or Radiant Heat

A water heating system in a utility room featuring a large cylindrical water tank, copper piping, a pressure gauge, and additional plumbing components. The room has white walls and a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling.

The other solar

Solar heating systems are not tied the electrical grid or subject to utility connections. They are simply a liquid-based, solar heat source for hot water or space heating.

Liquid Solar has been the regional dealer for SunEarth hardware since 2006. SunEarth is the largest manufacturer of solar heating panels in the US, and are built in Fontana, CA.

SOLAR HEATING FAQs

    1. Solar Heating Panels

    2. Thermal Storage Tank

    3. Circ pump and piping

    4. Solar Control

    • Solar panels collect heat

    • Solar control turns pump ON when solar panel warmer than tank bottom.

    • Pump moves heat transfer fluid through copper piping from panels to tank

    • Thermal storage tank or buffer tank stores heat

  • Solar Heating Costs

    Tie-in to A2W systems: $3k to >10k

Residential hot water systems: $6k to $12k.

Commercial hot water systems: $10k to >30k

  • To be fair, there were lot of systems installed in the late 90’s and early 2000’s that do not work and gave the technology a bad name.

But, properly designed and installed these system last >30 years. Liquid Solar has installed over 200 systems.

SOLAR HEATING and A2W HEAT PUMPS

  • Since an A2W heat pump system already has a buffer tank with outdoor-rated glycol, adding solar heating does not require an additional tank; only the panels, a pump, piping, and control.

  • Solar heating panels add heat directly to the buffer tank so that the heat pump works less and uses less electricity.

  • Best suited to heating-only heat pump systems but can also do hot water pre-heating with the use of a specific tank we can supply.
